#DisruptJ20: A call to disrupt Donald J. Trump's Presidential inauguration

On Friday January 20, 2017, designated as "Black Friday," President-elect Donald J. Trump will be formally inaugurated as your 45th President of the United States of America.

A call for a general strike across the country on January 20, 2016, Inauguaration Day
Several anti-Trump activists, including the likes of liberal documentary filmmaker Michael Moore, have put out a call to all protesters throughout the country, through the internet, to go to Washington, D.C. on that day to disrupt the inauguration ceremonies, calling the protest event, #DisruptJ20.

The purpose of the protests is twofold: 1. to make clear to the whole world that the vast majority of the people of United States do not support his presidency or consent to his rule, and 2. to disrupt the inauguration ceremonies to the point that Trump will have to be inaugurated behind closed doors, if at all.

While organizers of the J20 Disrupt event have explicitly said that in order to disrupt the Presidential inauguration, they plan on only using peaceful civil disobedience tactics (e.g., protest, blockade, disrupt, intervene, sit in, walkout, rise up, make noise, etc.), there is little chance, with the massive secret service security in place, that peaceful means will likely be successful in their goals to disrupt the inauguration to the point where Donald Trump will have to be inaugurated behind closed doors.

Therefore, we believe that the organizers of J20 Disrupt know that the protest at some point will turn violent in Washington, DC, in order to fulfill the protest's explicit goal of threatening Donald Trump to the point of seeking shelter indoors to be sworn in as the President of United States.

Thus, there will likely be a high probability of the inauguration degrading into violence during the protests as protesters will likely clash with police in full-scale riots throughout the city.

Unfortunately, that's what revolutions entail, and that's the simple truth about what's necessary to launch a successful revolt.

Since most protesters are not likely going to be able to make it Washington DC on January 20, protests are likely also going to break out in major urban centers across the country, which too could turn violent.

Organizers for the #DisruptJ20 event are calling for protesters across the country to take to the streets on that day and to organize walkouts at schools and at work in a general strike.

No work, no school, no shopping, no housework. With the threat of violence, that's more likely going to happen.

The streets of Californian cities such those in Los Angeles, Fresno, Oakland, Berkeley, and many others are expected to be flash points for massive protests (and possibly riots) on January 20, and possibly several days thereafter much like the days following the November 8th election.

And there's good reason for having the protests.

Protesters and critics, alike, assert that Trump stands for tyranny, greed, racism, and misogyny. His presidential campaign was highly controversial during the elections because his cause was championed by neo-Nazis, white nationalists, and by police agencies who kill and oppress black, brown, and poor people of all color on a daily basis. Trump never disavowed these groups.

Trumps controversial campaign pledges to "build the wall" and deport all undocumented immigrants suggest he will put in place a much more ominous surveillance state in America whereby federal and local law enforcement agencies will collaborate to spy on and raid homes, factories, and workplaces to harass, arrest and deport random Latinos who fail to provide documents of their legal residency in this country.
“We call on all people of good conscience to join in disrupting the ceremonies. If Trump is to be inaugurated at all, let it happen behind closed doors, showing the true face of the security state Trump will preside over. It must be made clear to the whole world that the vast majority of people in the United States do not support his presidency or consent to his rule.”
We do not stand for the racial persecution of a people based on skin color as that is the very definition of racism. Thus, it is very important to make your voice known to the President-elect that his campaign promises are wrong and should never become policy when he formally becomes President.

The Latino civil rights movement has largely gone under the radar in the American consciousness compared to the Black Lives Matter movement, especially for police-involved shootings in the news, but if Latinos continue to allow their plight to go under the radar, then it makes it much easier for Trump and other white leaders to fulfill their nationalist campaign promises to build the wall and deport all undocumented residents for generations to come.

The choice of where this movement goes is in your hands. We recommend you make the most of it on January 20th to make your voice and thoughts known to the world. Take to the streets. Your life here in America may very well depend on it.
